Mohammad Bakri (born 1999, Bi’ina, northern Palestine) is a photographer currently living and working in Jerusalem. He finished his BA in photography. His practice focuses on documenting people and places through analog photography, exploring themes of memory and time while highlighting the geopolitical realities of the place where he grew up and learned to photograph.

Opening activities for the 2026 Emergency Residency Program

Last Tuesday marked the start of our 2026 Emergency Residency Program with several inaugural activities:

  • Welcome breakfast with the residents, their companions, and the TEJA team.

  • First walk through the streets of Madrid.

  • Visit to La Casa Encendida.

  • Visit to the Paisanaje team at Infinito Delicias.

Refugio en el Barrio

On April 16, Teatro del Barrio hosted a sold-out solidarity event by the TEJA network to support artists in emergency contexts. Featuring performances by Le Parody, Guadalupe Sideral, and findPeaks, the evening also served as the official introduction of the network’s five new residents.

Thanks to the commitment of both artists and the audience, 100% of the proceeds will go directly to mobility programs for creators in critical situations, reaffirming art as a powerful tool for resistance and social change.

Visit to the Thyssen Museum / TBA21

On April 10th, we had the pleasure of visiting the Thyssen-Bornemisza National Museum alongside residents Mohamed Bakri and Abboud Abu Tair. It was a day of necessary contrasts: ranging from deep reflection at TBA21 with the exhibition “Pedagogies of War” by Ukrainian artists Roman Khimei and Yarema Malashchuk, to a historical journey through the museum’s permanent collection.

Visit to Círculo de Bellas Artes de Madrid

Last Tuesday, April 21st, residents Mohamed Bakri and Abboud Abu Tair took part in a cultural immersion activity at the Círculo de Bellas Artes in Madrid. The day featured a guided tour of the center and attendance at an artistic performance, fostering a dialogue between the creators and some of the capital’s most iconic cultural spaces. “Mano Vuelta” Session in Perales de Tajuña

Last Saturday, April 25, we experienced an exciting day in Perales de Tajuña, joining our resident artists for a new stage of “Mano Vuelta.” This project by Paisanaje is a research and creation program that, through a situated artistic and curatorial lens, focuses on food systems and the territory.

We accompanied our residents to discover the work of Matías Costa in an exhibition organized by the Official Association of Architects of Madrid (COAM) and PHotoESPAÑA. The exhibition offers us an emotional journey through the transformation of contemporary photography.

Visit to the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía

Last Friday, May 8, our residents visited the Reina Sofía Museum to tour the permanent collection and the new exhibition curated by Manuel Segade on the fourth floor. Through three itineraries exploring affects, fiction, and institutional critique, the group explored a showcase of over 400 works with a strong focus on female artists and previously unseen pieces. We would like to thank Andy Luengo for coordinating this visit and for his excellent guidance throughout the tour.
