Shuruq Harb is an artist, filmmaker, teacher, writer, and editor based in Ramallah. Her artistic practice focuses on online visual culture, tracing subversive routes through the circulation of imagery. In 2020, she published her first short story, and her most recent work, The Jump, was presented at the Fundació Antoni Tàpies in Barcelona.

Her short film, The White Elephant, won Best Short Film at the Cinéma du Réel Festival in Paris in 2018. This experimental short film, based on a semi-autobiographical story, addresses themes such as coming of age and the influence of the political environment, including the First Intifada and trance culture in Tel Aviv.

Narratives from Palestine: A Poetics of the Land Screening and conversation with artists Shuruq Harb, Shereen Abdel-Karim Hassanein, and Lara Salous

This event features the screening of films by Shuruq Harb, Shereen Abdel-Karim Hassanein, and Lara Salous — three multidisciplinary Palestinian artists who are part of the Tadafuq project.

The screening is followed by a conversation between Harb and Salous, joined by Sara Buraya Boned (Museo Reina Sofía), discussing their experiences as Palestinian women artists from a feminist perspective, with a focus on the possibilities of raising awareness about the Palestinian cause through their artistic production.
