Institute for Postnatural Studies

The Institute for Postnatural Studies (IPS) is an artistic experimentation center dedicated to exploring and questioning post-nature as a framework for contemporary creation. It is conceived as a platform for critical thinking, a network that brings together artists and researchers concerned with the challenges of the global ecological crisis, working through experimental formats of exchange and open knowledge production.

With a multidisciplinary approach, IPS develops projects and research focused on various themes, including ecology, coexistence, politics, and the relationships between territory and ecosystems. The Institute has carried out numerous projects, curated exhibitions, and developed public programs, while also offering seminars, courses, and learning platforms as part of its academic line, along with an independent study program. In addition, its space in Madrid hosts artist residencies, workshops, gatherings, and conferences.

Since its foundation in 2020, IPS has developed projects such as the exhibition “Un lago de jade verde” at CentroCentro (Spain), the sound ecologies festival “The Listening Affect” in collaboration with Galería Municipal do Porto (Portugal), and has collaborated with various institutions and platforms, including: Museo JUMEX (Mexico), CA2M Centro de Arte Dos de Mayo (Spain), Inland-Campo Adentro (Spain), Università di Bologna (Italy), Medialab-Prado (Spain), HEAD – Genève (Switzerland), MACBA Museu d’Art Contemporani de Barcelona (Spain), Galería Travesía Cuatro (Mexico), Centre del Carme Cultura Contemporánea (Spain), Caja Negra Editora (Argentina), Bosque Real (Spain), La Casa Encendida (Spain), Aarhus University (Denmark), Domaine de Boisbuchet (France) and The Spanish Pavilion at the 18th International Architecture Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia (Italy), among others.
