Oporto is a neighborhood located in Puerta Bonita, Carabanchel Bajo, an area of renowned historical and cultural significance, revalued and strategically planned to establish efficient networks with the rest of the city. In 2013, amidst a wave of social change and the transformation of economic and productive structures, an initiative was born to reactivate this peripheral area, creating an active cultural and creative network.
An old textile factory was transformed into nine artist studios, which not only fostered a collaborative workspace but also cultivated a strong sense of community, made up of artists from diverse backgrounds, each with a distinct and unique creative practice. This creative front established itself under the name Nave Oporto, and is made up of: Irma Álvarez-Laviada, FOD, Santiago Giralda, Miki Leal, Sonia Navarro, Toni Ramón, Belén Rodríguez, Manuel Saro and Miguel Ángel Tornero.
Recognized as a key artistic reference point, Nave Oporto blends the spirit of the traditional workshop with an independent yet collaborative working model, where connections and affinities between the artists shape their collective production.
