Paisanaje was born from the work of the Campo Adentro team at the CAR (Centro de Acercamiento a lo Rural), combined with the collaboration of like-minded individuals from very diverse backgrounds — artists, curators, artisans, activists, and more. They are a group focused on exploration and action, addressing the ecosocial crisis through art and practicing alternative modes of imagination that move away from collapse narratives to envision more hopeful futures.
Their goal is to create a welcoming, participatory space in the city where all forms of life can coexist. Paisanaje’s work is structured around different action lines that tackle the climate crisis and aim for fairer transitions:
- Comer y poder (Food and Power) brings together practices and discussions aimed at promoting food sovereignty.
- Ensayos situados (Situated Essays) focuses on researching urban transitions.
- Hacer el saber (Making Knowledge) revives and preserves traditional knowledge.
- Lujo comunal (Communal Luxury) activates shared imaginaries and celebrates collective life.
These lines are interconnected in many of their projects, thanks to a continuous focus on everyday practices. This is why their actions are so diverse — from collective situated walks to dairy processing into yogurt, cheese, and other products, from communal meals to publications, workshops, gatherings, celebrations, and exhibitions.
