La Escocesa

La Escocesa is a public center for artistic residencies and contemporary art production, collectively managed by the ‘Associació d’Idees EMA’ artist association, with access granted through an open call process.

They focus on addressing the needs of artists and cultural agents at different stages of their careers, providing workspaces and resources to develop their projects. They offer studios and workshops to more than 30 resident artists, along with a free public program of events, training sessions, and open calls.

As a space inhabited by the artistic community, they are not only focused on art production and creation but also on the collective generation of knowledge, networks of care, and new ways of building and practicing cultural institutions. The center’s associative nature enables the active participation of the artist community, creating a horizontal collective structure through which the center is managed.

As a feminist institution, their values are rooted in an intersectional, emancipatory, cooperative, and inclusive perspective, advocating for sustainability, experimentation, collaboration, and the development of community-based artistic projects. They understand these values not simply as statements but as commitments to be put into practice through a shared process of learning, constant reflection, and transparency.
